About Dr. Wilson

Dr. Wilson was a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. He began private practice in Fresno in 1982 when he joined the long established practice of Dr. George Whitworth. In 1987, Dr. Wilson moved to his Fresno Street location where he provided excellent care to patients until December 31, 2021. In the office, he personally saw every patient, every visit, every time—always.

Dr. Wilson was born and raised in Arcadia, California where his father was a general surgeon. Dr. Wilson attended Lindfield College in Oregon where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and UC Riverside where he received a Master of Science degree in biochemistry. He worked for a year at City of Hope National Medical Center in the Department of Cytogenetics and then attended the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School where he graduated with a medical degree in 1977. He completed the Fifth Pathway program followed by an internal medicine internship at UC Irvine. Dr. Wilson received his residency training at Fresno’s Valley Medical Center under the auspices of UC San Francisco. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).

Because of Dr. Wilson’s specialized training in internal medicine, he emphasized treating the whole woman and not just gynecological problems. When patients visited the office, they received individualized treatment, taking into account physical, psychological and spiritual aspects. Dr. Wilson successfully treated PMS, menopausal issues and menstrual abnormalities.

Dr. Wilson was bilingual (Spanish). He lived in Guadalajara for four years during medical school. He returned to Mexico twice a year on medical missions with the Flying Doctors of Mercy (Liga). During his semi-annual visits to the clinic in Sinaloa, Dr. Wilson treated dozens of patients who had obstetric, gynecological and other medical problems. Dr. Wilson’s father was a Methodist missionary in Nanking, China and was the only general surgeon in the city during the Japanese invasion prior to World War II. Dr. Wilson was proud to carry on his father’s tradition of serving those in need.

Dr. Wilson performed vaginal surgeries, minimally invasive gynecological procedures including total laparoscopic hysterectomies and endometrial ablations.

Dr. Wilson had privileges at Saint Agnes Medical Center, Clovis Community Medical Center and the Fresno Surgical Hospital.
